STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE
FEDERATION WARP SHUTTLE
Also known as the Vulcan Warp Shuttle, this model shown above is the Federation variant, used by Starfleet Admiral Nogura as his personal shuttle in the first Star Trek film. Actually, this craft itself is NOT seen in the movie, but instead I created it for the six-minute-long animation that I'm working on, which depicts Admiral Nogura's fly-by and inspection of the refit Enterprise shortly before the V'ger incident, just prior to Kirk taking back command. Since this craft will be seen in much of that animation, I was forced to take some liberties with it, primarily adding a much more powerful (and more visually interesting) impulse-drive system, as seen in the blue impulse-engine dome and the two impulse-engine thrusters, all inspired by the design of the refit Enterprise. When this shuttle does its flyby of the Enterprise in my animation, the two vessels will therefore hopefully have a harmonious visual style, looking as if they did indeed come from the same fleet.
The image above is from within the shuttle-bay/cargo deck/hangar of the refit Enterprise. The image was actually rendered from INSIDE the Carrara Enterprise model, with a camera that I set up inside the hangar deck before I shrunk the whole thing down and put it inside the Constitution-class 3D model. Notice the work-bee on the runway deck.
