
Episode IV:
"That's no moon..." - The Death Star
This took about a half an hour to create, which is a LOT more than I anticipated that it would take. The modeling was simple enough - jus a boolean sphere-minus-sphere operation in Carrara, and a separate super-laser object neslted into the indentation left by the boolean operation, to make sure that the super-laser's texture mapped properly. The other 25 minutes were spent in PhotoShop, creating a somewhat complicated Death Star texture map. The map features many layers of details - panel lines, metal texturing, machine bits, and the glow channel, made using the same technique that I devised for my Cloud City model.
