Episode VI:
The Battle of Endor
One of the great things about having spent so much time building 3D models of so many spaceships from the Star Wars saga is being able to crank out a battle scene in a very short amount of time. For this scene, all I had to model were the A-Wings, the B-Wings, and the Mon Calamari cruiser. The A-Wings are rather highly detailed (again, not that you can tell from this image), but the B-Wing model is rather low-res since they are only in the background. The Mon Calamari cruiser was also done rather quickly - too quickly as now I realize it shows a disturbing lack of detail.
The image was rendered in several passes composited together in Adobe PhotoShop - the background image, then a layer of background fighters, then foreground capital ships, then more fighters. The background itself is a combination of a photo of our Earth as a substitute for Endor, and an image of the Death Star from somewhere off of the Web.
