Imperial Space Marine
Mk3 "Armorum Ferrum" Armour

The Mark-III is my favorite type of pre-heresy Space Marine armor, very brutal-looking but yet having some classical lines inspired by medieval plate armor, especially the face-plate. To make it even more menacing, the integration of a Nazi-style helmet has been used in many illustrations of this type of armor, which I included in this model.

The Mark-3 Space Marine armor was actually just a reinforced, upgraded variant of the Mark-2 armor used by the Adeptus Astartes during the Great Crusade to reunite the human worlds under the rule of the Emperor. It was designed with frontal assault operations in mind, particularly in high-attrition situations such as spacecraft boarding operations and hive-tunnel raids, where cover was not always optimal for the Marines. To achieve greater frontal protection for the Marines, reinforced alloy plates were bolted to the front secions of the legs, etc. and molecular-bonding bolts were used throughout to reinforce the entire structure.

No chapter or even company of the Astartes was entirely equipped with Mark-III armor, since it was only issued on an as-needed basis as the operational theater mandated. The Death Guard Legion (pictured here), however, did make more use of this armor than any other Legion during the Crusades. Thus, it is an extremely rare suit ten millennia later, and among loyalist forces it is almost exclusively now used for ceremonial purposes and for honour guards.
