TIM'S 501st LEGION F.A.Q.

Q: Why did you join the 501st?
A: Because (A) the 501st is a FANTASTIC organization that does countless charity events throughout the year all over the world; (B) I get to wear an awesome Stormtrooper costume while doing it; and (C) I suck at golf.

Q: How can somebody join the 501st?
A: Click here for more information on this - the official site says it better than I ever could.

Q: Where can I get a costume like yours?
A: Our armor is fan-made, constructed from .093-inch ABS plastic using the vacu-forming method of creating the armor from fan-sculpted molds. Should you want some help in this, it is vital that you visit with the people in your local 501st garrison - talk to them, attend their events, get to know them, and then they can help you with setting up your armor. For more information about the vacu-forming process that we use, visit Imperial-Armor.com.

Q: How much does it cost to have a costume like yours?
A: The armor itself will run you at least $600 (USD) and all you'll get from that is the white plastic parts, not including the helmet. You'll still need buttons, decals, the black fabric undersuit, an E-11 (fake) gun, lenses for your helmet, "vocoder" parts for your helmet, assembly materials (glue, hot-glue gun, duct tape, industrial-strength Velcro, a strip of brow trim rubber, mouth-grill mesh screen-door-type material, boots, etc. Don't expect to pay any less than about $1200 (USD) for a complete stormtrooper costume that will meet the entry-requirements of the 501st Legion. Q. Who ARE you???
A. I'm not your typical "geek" but I am still quite a geek - making a website like this is proof enough of that! I'm a 43-year-old guy living in central Kentucky, working as a web-design teacher. I served in the U.S. Navy, which was a lot of fun. I've even been in a fraternity of all things, not very nerd-like at all! (Phi Sigma Kappa, if you're curious.) My other hobbies include military and US/World history, politics, football, Warhammer 40K gaming, and creative writing.

Q: Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?
A: I'm actually a lot taller without the armor on. (I told somebody this at the OTR release at Best Buy. The guy actually believed me, no kidding...)
